Sport Scholarship Deadline Extended
The deadline to apply for the 2025 Lifesaving Sport Scholarship, originally set for June 2, will be extended to August 31.
If you plan to compete in any upcoming competitions this year, such as the RLSS Commonwealth Lifesaving Championships, the Canadian Surf Lifesaving Championships, the Orange Cup, and more, we recommend applying for this scholarship if you haven't already!
About the Scholarship
The Lifesaving Sport Scholarship Program supports athletes and officials from Alberta and the Northwest Territories as they participate in lifesaving sport events. The scholarship may be used to help offset travel, registration, or accommodation costs at international or national events.
There are no restrictions on which events you may attend, provided they involve lifesaving sport.
Eligibility Criteria
To qualify for this scholarship, applicants must:
- Be a resident of Alberta or the Northwest Territories
- Be a member in good standing
- Be a registered athlete or current official
- Demonstrate a commitment to the Society's humanitarian mandate by giving back, and/or demonstrate a financial need.
Preference will be given to applicants who meet all criteria.
Payment of Award
Four scholarships are available, each up to $500 in value.
Funds may be used to offset a recipient's contribution toward event participation during the year 2025, including registration, travel, and accommodation.
Payment will be made directly to recipients. If a recipient does not attend any events in 2025, their full scholarship amount must be returned to the Society.
