Intermediate First Aid Lifesaving Society's Intermediate First Aid (previously know as Standard First Aid, see note below) provides comprehensive training covering all aspects of first aid and CPR. Ages 11+.
This course is for those who want to gain an in-depth understanding of first aid and develop the skills to provide first aid in the event of an emergency. Topics covered include but are not limited to: legal aspects of first aid, the role of the first aider, environmental injuries, sprains, strains, broken bones, bleeding, circulatory emergencies, spinal injuries, mental health emergencies and more.
Oxygen Administration provides instruction on the proper use and benefits of oxygen as a supplement in an emergency care situation with a learn-by-doing approach.

Lifesaving instructor's/examiners are trained to teach and evaluate the Bronze Star, Bronze Medallion, Bronze Cross, and Distinction certifications. Instructor/Examiner candidates are trained in aspects of learning as well as various approaches required to teach water rescue, first aid, and related aquatic skills in the Canadian Lifesaving Program. Candidates also learn about long-term and short-term planning, class management, safety supervision and the principles of evaluation.

National Lifeguard Recert The National Lifeguard Recertification is designed to assist lifeguards in maintaining their current National Lifeguard Pool certification. Recertification is required every 2 years.
The Lifesaving Society is pleased to offer the National Lifeguard Pool Re-certification Guide. The guide is designed as a resource for candidates to prepare themselves for recertification in the National Lifeguard program. This guide should be used in combination with the Alert and Bronze Cross manual. Certification is based on the ability to meet ALL performance criteria (Must Sees, located in the Re-Cert Guide). Candidates are encouraged to practice skills and review knowledge to prepare for the re-certification course.
National Lifeguard is a vocational training award. Certified National Lifeguards should be familiar with the code of conduct in the Policies and Procedures. National Lifeguard training is consistent across Canada.

Course Details: Previously Called Standard First Aid
Intermediate First Aid provides comprehensive training covering all aspects of first aid and CPR. This course is for those who want an in-depth understanding of first aid such as: medical/legal aspects, spinal injuries, environmental injuries, bone and joint injuries, abdominal and chest injuries, burns, and medical emergencies. Includes CPR-C and AED certification.
Prerequisite(s): None
Certification Currency: 3 years from the date of certification
Course Details: Bronze Medallion teaches an understanding of the lifesaving principles embodied in the four components of water rescue education: judgment, knowledge, skill, and fitness. Rescuers learn tows, carries, and defense and release methods in preparation for challenging rescues of conscious and unconscious victims.
Prerequisite(s): Bronze Star or 13 years or older and CPR – C
What to Bring: Lunch, Snacks, Bathing suit(s), Towels, Pen and Paper.
Course Details: Bronze Cross is designed for lifesavers who want the challenge of more advanced training including an introduction to safe supervision in aquatic facilities. Bronze Cross is a prerequisite for all advanced training programs including National Lifeguard and Instructor certification.
