How to Submit a Rescue Award Nomination

Overview

Our rescue awards aim to recognize individuals who have performed outstanding rescue attempts or have demonstrated exceptional humanitarian spirit. Whether on duty or off, these acts of bravery deserve acknowledgement and celebration

Beyond recognition, this initiative aims to raise public awareness about how to stay safe in, on, and around the water. By sharing real stories of rescues, we aim to educate communities and reduce the risk of water-related injuries and fatalities.

If you or someone you know has been involved in a rescue or humanitarian act, we invite you to submit a nomination. This process includes:

  • Statement of Events: A detailed account of the rescue is required to support the investigation prior to finalizing the nomination.
  • Background Check: All nominees will undergo a background check conducted by the Edmonton Police Service

Examples of Eligible Rescues

  • A lifeguard who performed a rescue during the summer, whether on or off duty
  • Assisting someone whose boat capsized
  • Administering first aid to someone in need
  • Rescuing an individual in distress from the water

You can view previous rescue award recipients on our website for inspiration!
