We are actively searching for two Aquatic Team Leaders who have serious passion for Aquatics and Sport Excellence. As members of the Aquatics department, you will provide leadership to the Lifeguard Team, assess the functionality of the current operations, identify opportunities and develop and execute plans to evolve and enhance the overall Aquatic experience for all stakeholders involved. WHAT YOU'LL DO: Leadership: - Recruit, train, performance manage and reward Aquatic employees following HR best practice and procedures.
- Establish and evaluate annual performance reviews through regular follow up, feedback and coaching with employees.
- Work collectively with other Team Leaders and Department Manager to set up monthly employee departmental in-services.
- Backfill for frontline positions as required.
- Attend Leadership training when required.
- Lead, coach, mentor and empower employees to handle operational challenges and provide exceptional service.
- Ensure all Lifeguards receive the training necessary to meet their job expectations.
- Act as the main point of contact for employee continued education and development.
- Coordinate and deliver job specific training for new hires.
- Carry out and lead by example at a high level all employee performance standards & expectations.
- Establish solid working relationships within the team and other departments to ensure a cohesive working environment.
- Rotate within the Fire Warden role with other Team Leaders.
- Act as a key information source by providing the Aquatics Manager with customer feedback, system enhancements, recruitment needs, training and development needs, ideas for rewards and recognition, new programs/services and on-going quality improvement.
Customer Experience: - Promote building wide knowledge and expertise on all Talisman Centre programs and services.
- Develop an annual communication plan for the department including: required signage, daily updates, rules & regulations (work with health inspector), team communication including managing the BLOG, Lead Guard communication and follow up on team needs and requests.
- Assist with conducting customer surveys and focus groups.
- Be the point of reference for all Aquatics customers focusing on communication and establishing strong relationships.
- Build relationships and strengthen partnerships with all clubs to broaden available opportunities.
- Resolve day to day customer engagement issues.
- Understand and apply all safety and emergency procedures to ensure a collective, streamlined and successful execution
Planning & Organizing: - Coordinate and monitor Lifeguard schedules including approving vacation and absence requests to ensure business operations continue efficiently and effectively.
- Coordinate all Aquatic event human resources, set ups and take downs.
- Complete and submit payroll biweekly.
- Develop a 1-2 year award and certification administration plan including proactively scheduling and tracking all team training.
- Develop a 1-3 year internal training plan to include specialized training for Lifeguards, special event Lifeguards, skill drills and building wide emergency response.
- Plan and deliver all training and in-services for Lifeguard teams.
- Develop internal fitness standards and training for Lifeguard teams.
- Update and maintain all training documents.
- Update and create policies and procedures required for all Aquatic operations.
- Maintain Aquatic equipment and order supplies; including first aid, public supply, and maintenance.
- Develop a 1-3 year public supply and equipment plan.
- Assist with the development and monitoring of financials, budget and statistic reports. Assure assigned areas of responsibility are performed within budget.
- Compile and analyze monthly pool stats. Determine and create new tracking systems for needed data.
- Maintain a safe and clean environment by solidifying pool maintenance program including, establishing detailed tasks, team training, monitoring quality of work and ordering supplies.
- Identify and assess all risks and develop strategies to reduce risk.
- Research the latest trends, technology and equipment within the Aquatic industry to ensure the department remains current and delivers on a safe, maintained and controlled environment.
- Develop a long term integrated plan which will change the perception of the Lifeguard internally and externally.
- Explore opportunities of developing competitive Lifeguard team.
WHAT YOU NEED: Education: - You have completed your degree in Kinesiology, Human Kinetics, Business Management, Sport Administration or a related field.
- You must be currently certified in: CPR level C, (AED), First Aid, National Lifeguard Service (NLS), I Can Swim Teacher or Water Safety Instructor (WSI).
- Preference will be given to candidates who are certified as Pool Operator Level 1, Head Lifeguard Instructor, Lifesaving Sport Instructor, NLS instructor, Safety Management Instructor.
Experience & Skills: - Your education is complimented by 3-5 years of experience in an Aquatic environment and 3 years or more in a supervisory and administrative position.
- You have proven ability to establish and maintain an environment of trust and empowerment, build strategic working relationships, delegate, manage and monitor work, lead by example, build a successful team, align performance with success, coach, plan and organize and work through conflict.
- You must possess strong communication skills (verbal and written) that allow you to adapt to a variety of stakeholders. You are proficient with Microsoft products (Word, Excel, and Outlook) and have the ability to navigate the web.
- Previous experience using the CLASS system is considered an asset.

POSITION OVERVIEW: We are seeking an Aquatic Supervisor, Programs who is a committed team player who will work tirelessly to ensure the operational success of our brand new, state-of-the-art aquatic centre. The Aquatic Supervisor, Programs is a critical member of our Aquatic Management and Aquatic Leadership Teams. Working cooperatively with two other Aquatic Supervisors (Risk Management and Recruitment & Training) and under the direction of an Aquatic Manager, (s)he will design and implement safe and effective user-based programs and services, schedule instructional employees, supervise employee and program performance, contract user groups, ensure compliance with policies and procedures and work as an effective member of Mi Team.
